New Proposed Rates
MVWD held a public hearing on November 8, 2023 to receive public comments and consider adopting a schedule of rate increases to current water rates charged by the District. Public Hearing Notices were mailed to all property owners and rate payers within the District's service area. The notice explained:
- The reasons for the schedule of proposed rate increases to provide annual increases in District revenues
- Proposed changes to the District's existing water rate structure
- Proposed "pass through" adjustment for un-projected increases in wholesale water rates/charges
- Proposed changes to the demand reduction rates
- Projected impact for implementation of the proposed rates
- The basis on which the proposed rates are calculated
- The process, including public hearing and protests, to adopt the proposed water rates under California state law

Current Rates (Effective January 1, 2023)
New water rates went into effect January 1, 2023. This increase is part of a multi-year water rate schedule that was formally adopted by the Board of Directors on November 20, 2019 following a public hearing.
The new rates include changes to the existing budget-based tiered rate structure for single-family residential customers and irrigation meter customers; "pass through" charges for unforeseen increases in wholesale water rates/charges; and demand reduction rates. The increased rates ensure the District will continue to fund operational and facility replacement needs.
