Water flowing in the San Antonio Channel

Monte Vista Water District is receiving numerous questions from customers concerning significant water flow in the San Antonio Creek Channel.

The water you see flowing in the channel is actually imported water from northern California being delivered from Metropolitan Water District of Southern California to Orange County Water District. This is a controlled release and delivery of water, which is captured in its entirety before it reaches the ocean and stored in Orange County's groundwater basin for later withdrawal, treatment, and use as drinking water. All of this water will be used, and none will go to waste.
