Hannah and Logan Guthrie, sixth and first graders at Monte Vista Elementary School, were recently honored for their award-winning art posters by Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MWD), sponsor of an annual "Water is Life" student art contest. The students' posters were among 36 selected for recognition from hundreds entries, representing artwork from grades Kindergarten through 12, submitted by water agencies in Metropolitan's six-county service area.

Hannah's poster received first place award in the grades 4-6 division in Monte Vista Water District's local contest held in April 2018. Logan's poster also received first place in the grade's K-3 division. The District sent eight winning posters from its contest to MWD for judging in the regional contest. The 36 award-winning posters are featured in a 2019 calendar, published by MWD that was unveiled at a special event on December 4, 2018 at the agency's headquarters in Los Angeles, where the student artists were recognized for depicting conservation concepts through art.
