On October 18th at 10:18 a.m., Monte Vista Water District will join more than nine million people in the Great California ShakeOut, the world's largest earthquake preparedness drill.

At the above date and time, District employees will be instructed to Drop, Cover, and Hold On for one minute and then practice an orderly evacuation of its office buildings. Field personnel will also participate by stopping their activities and then checking in to confirm their status. Customers and guests visiting District offices are invited to join staff in participating in the drill.

Over half a million people in San Bernardino County are registered to participate in this year's ShakeOut earthquake drill. Radio and television stations around the state will air a "Drop, Cover and Hold On" drill broadcast at 10:18 a.m. Statewide, many schools, hospitals and first responder organizations are planning more elaborate preparedness drills. Individuals and families in their homes are urged to use this opportunity to create or review their plans.
